zantac and ppi for acid reflux?

Hello, I am a 30 year old female just diagnosed with GERD. My new dr is insisting that a take ppi and zantac. However I'm afraid these meds will only mask the symptoms and make it worse in long run and I'm scared of the possible side effects. He keeps telling me I should change my diet like no spicy food caffeine, citrus fruits etc and over 12 weeks he'll take me off the meds and I should be better. He thinks I'm producing too much acid but I thought it was the opposite. I would also like to…See More

My dr wants me to take PPI and Zantac but is it really necessary?

Hello I've been just diagnosed with GERD and I believe I have a possible hiatal hernia. I started having these symptoms after taking drying antibiotics for s sinus infection. My dr wants me on these prescription meds(PPI and Zantac) but I'm afraid my body will become defendant on them and it will not cure this condition and only make it worse. Plus all the scary side effects which my dr is not at all concerned about. I just want to know should I take these meds or not? Or should I just follow…See More

IBS and Inflammation

I had been free of IBS for a couple of years, but had a 2 x heartbypass a year ago and my digestion has really suffered. I now have really bad bouts of inflammation and discomfort on the left hand side of my abdomen front and back, mid navel, and constipation a couple of times a week, and usually take an osmotic laxative to get things going. My naturopath asked for a stool test but not much came back from that apart from a raised level of secretary IgA (mucous) in the stool and the presence of…See More

Dr. Dahlman replied to Leeanne Marsocci's discussion thyroid lab test
"Sorry, didn't see the attachment you included with your last post. Yes, the high TP antibody indicates probably Hashimoto's. That does not mean to take medication. It means you eat too much glucose in your diet (carbs)...regardless of what…"
